Did you know that:

  • “The Grissino Torinese and its recipe were born in 1668 at the Savoy Court, when the court baker was asked to prepare a more digestible bread for the two-year-old prince Amedeo of Savoy. The famous baker Antonio Brunero decided then to create a different version of the typical bread, that at the time was called "Ghersa", to please the little prince. He made a long and thin bread, whose shape made it possible to reach a higher crispness and lightness. This new variant was called "Ghersin", that means small Ghersa.

That’s how the word "Grissino", that's nowadays known all over the world, comes from the Piemontese dialect "Ghersin"!"
